Inspire your kids with a week of learning digital content creation from a professional photographer and popular Youtube influencer. Each day focuses on a different type of media: photography, video, Photoshop, etc.
During the week, students will get to create their own Youtube video in a professional Youtuber’s studio, take professional photos of a dancer, do landscape photography at sunset, create their own logo and shoe design, and create digital art in Photoshop. This is a hands-on, fast-paced, and really fun course. Every student will leave with multiple photos, videos, and other digital art creations that they can be proud of.
Digital content creation is an essential job skill for many professions today, but schools are ignoring it. Your kids can quickly learn the basics of Photoshop, photography, video creation, and more in just a week. With an inspiring beginning to learning these skills, they can continue to grow in their abilities over time.
Most of all, the class will be FUN! This is a hands-on, active class that the kids will enjoy and be excited for.
The Instructor

Jim Harmer is a Youtuber and social media influencer who has driven over 100 million pageviews to his websites, over 80 million views on his Youtube channels, has built up and successfully exited multiple online brands, and was ranked in the top 40 most influential photographers in the world. He currently runs the Backfire Youtube channel, and is starting Trekker Entrepreneur School here in St George.
Jim’s photography has been on magazine covers, in books, printed 20′ tall in the MTC in Provo, and has been shared all over the web. He has been the keynote speaker at photography conferences, taught photography workshops in many countries around the world, and written books on photography.
If there’s anything that Jim knows, it’s content creation. He’s passionate about it, and is eager to share his knowledge with the kids in the class.

Daily Schedule
Monday, June 13 – Photography Day
We’ll start inside for the afternoon where students will take water drop photos to understand shutter speed, then portraits to understand aperture, and photos in the dark to understand ISO.
But we won’t just be taking lame little photos inside. At sunset, we’ll go take photos of St George from one of Jim’s favorite locations, and then take on an epic professional photo shoot of a dancer in the rain where we’ll use flash photography.
The goal is for each student to end the day with at least 3 professional quality photos that they could be proud of.
We’ll start at 3PM and go until 10:15PM. It’ll be a late night, but they’ll love the results of the night photo.
Tuesday, June 14 – Photoshop Day
Most people spend months following boring tutorials, but Jim has taught Photoshop at conferences, workshops, and classes all around the world. He can teach them the basics in a single day.
We’ll work on the photos we took on Monday and edit them to give them a polished look.
They’ll also learn about Photoshop as not just a photo editing tool, but for graphic design. They’ll use Photoshop to create their own digital ad, logo, and more.
Tuesday’s class will go from 1PM to 5PM so they can be inside for the hottest part of the day (when they’d normally be playing video games…)
Wednesday, June 15 – Youtube Day
Our video day will be PACKED with action. There is so much to learn in four hours.
We’ll start with a 20 minute lesson just showing the most important info about how to create a video. We like to minimize lecture time.
Then, students will create a cinematic sequence of video right in Jim’s Youtube studio. The goal is to take a mundane subject, and make it look epic.
We’ll take the video that students create and jump into Final Cut Pro to edit the footage and begin to understand video editing.
Our final project for the day will be recording and editing a real Youtube short that will go out on Jim’s Youtube channel so the students can see their video actually in use.
Class will be from 1PM to 5PM.
Thursday, June 16 – Digital Art Day
The first half of today will be a really fun project where students will either design their own shoe brand, or their own car–all using Photoshop.
We’ll talk about what makes a great logo, drafting concepts, and vectors vs pixels.
The second half of the day will give students time to use all of their skills from the week and create their own project using any of the skills they’ve worked on.
Our end goal for the week is that each student will have 3 professional-quality items they can put in their portfolio.
Class is from 1-5PM, but we hope parents will come pick up their kids at 5PM and stay with us for 30 minutes as we have a short program to present the kids’ work to the parents.
You’ll be amazed what they can create with a little mentoring.
